A Song of the Errant Knight

by: Eiscego

The Throttler was in search of a meaning for life.

He set his sights on finding a new wife.

But where could he find one? Where could he turn?

It was the most beautiful bride for whom he yearned.

It was then into his sight the Errant Knight’s bride came.

The Throttler decided to make this woman his dame.

“I will kill you, Throttler!” the Errant Knight cursed.

And start to search for him was the thing he did first.

To begin his journey he entered a dark cave

Only to be approached by a slithering snake.

“For what is it you search?” the snake asked the knight.

“The Throttler and my wife!” the Errant Knight replied.

“I can help you,” said the snake. “But it comes at a cost.

You must find the Staff of Clarity by slaying my boss!”

So the knight set off to kill the beast of whom he was told

and place this Snake Boss’ body into ground, hard and cold.

He knew he would need help to defeat the legless lizard.

So he needed to seek out the aid of the fabled old wizard.

It was in that moment that the ground began to shake.

If anyone slept near, they were certain to wake.

Outside he was met with a loud and deafening roar

The air was surging with heat, his skin was so sore.

It was the boss of the snake, it was right there in sight.

Only it was not a snake, but a dragon in flight!

The dragon had six heads, each that could breathe fire.

The knight could see now that the situation was dire.

Atop his golden destrier, the knight began to charge

Aiming his sword at the heart of the beast so large.

Just at the last second, the dragon moved aside.

Atop dragon, the knight saw the Throttler and his bride.

The knight needed to be smarter if he were to win this battle.

He would need to fight on foot, so he began to unsaddle.

In the dirt he noticed there was something bright and glowing.

There was a long staff with a white orb that was showing.

Was it a gift? Was it luck? Was it an act of charity?

What he happened to find was to be the Staff of Clarity.

It was in this moment his companion showed up.

He could see that this was now the change of his luck.

A hemloch was tossed to him by Siebel, his friend.

The dragon stood no chance, this was to be its end.

In one of the dragon’s mouths with a targeted throw,

Landed the hemloch, allowing for the lucky fatal blow.

With the dragon dead, his ally near, and his new staff,

The knight looked at the Throttler and gave a big laugh.

“You stand no chance, Throttler!” The knight cried out.

The Throtter gave up, for he would lose without a doubt.

The knight’s princess was rescued, all safe and sound.

After all their troubles they were finally homebound.
