Glossary
In this Glossary, terms that are used for specific meanings that may differ from ordinary and their colloquial use will be noted and their meanings explained. Terms in the Old Tongue, or other Tongues will also be explained. Take heed that the explanations offered here are not to be followed as definitive dictionary entries, but only outline the sense in which the words below are used in this very treatise.
Ao: "Undo" in the Old Tongue, used often when Undoing a certain condition from the spell's target.
Amaurosis: To blacken, or to darken, specifically used to refer to the loss of sight. Loss of Sight is temporary when propagated by secrets.
Arcana: "Secret", a word used to describe the Secrets of the Arcane.
Ard: High in degree, or great.
Asgall: Retreat, haven, shelter
Athar: The Element of Air
Augmentation: To strengthen something
Bais: Death
Beag: Little
Beannaich: Bless
Beatha: Life or livelihood
Beathach: Beast or animal
Beothaich: Reanimation, revival
Breisleich: Confusion, talk of nonsense
Chivalry and Gallantry: Principles of Knightly Honour and Pride.
Comlha: Referring to companions, a secret that has a group-wide effect
Conditionibus: Conditions or Conditioning
Creag: The Element of the Earth
Creutair: Creature; sentient being
Dachaidh: Home or Homewards
Dall: Blind
Deo: Forever, lasting; often used to refer to the element of the light (Symbolic Reasoning)
Degeneration: To cause damage over a duration of time
Deireas: Injury; harm; damage
Deum: Liquid; usually a potion for our purposes
Dion: Roof or Roofing
Eisd: Listen
Elementa: Elements
Execration: To Curse or Denounce
Faileas: Reflection or Shadow
Fas: Growth
Fein: Self
Gar: Near; for the purposes of secrets, something affecting every creature in sight (usually hostile)
Lamh: Touching; Immediately Around
Leasaich: Develop
Lumiere: Light
Meall: Cluster
Mentis: Mind
Mor: Big
Nadur: Nature
Neart: Might or Strength
Nochd: Manifestation; to expose; to show; to reveal
Obscurite: Darkness; Obscurity
Pian: Pain or Punishment
Pramh: Sleep or Slumber
Prudentiae: Prudence; something done with Wisdom
Puinneag: To suck (out or from)
Puinsein: Poison
Saighead: Arrow or Dart
Sal: The Element of Water
Searg: Withering or Fading
Semitas: Path or Footpath
Seun: To Charm
Slan: Safe; healthy; whole or sound
Spion: To drag or pull
Spiorad: Spirit
Srad: The Element of Fire
Strioch: A line or hyphen, often used for something pertaining to Darkness
Suain: Sleep or narcosis
Torradh: A burial or burial ground
Vitality: The measure of how healthy an Aisling is ((HP))
Willpower: The measure of an Aislings spiritual or mental capacity ((MP/Mana))
