Semitas Arcana Temuair - The Paths of the Secrets of Temuair

The Striochs - Pure Darkness

These incantations, cursed by many, vaunted and prized by the rest, leave nobody neutral. Everyone has an opinion on the element of darkness, for its notoriousness precedes it. It was the wizards that discovered how to isolate it and use it, or at least try to, but as the element of darkness is not naturally isolated, it can be very chaotic when artificially isolated, which is what resulted in the Dubhaimid and the clashes of though on it. As the wizards were the ones who had made it able to bear the element of darkness, it is rightly so that it is them that are able to fully utilise the Strioch Bais, their meall, lamh, and mor iterations as well as Mor Strioch Pian Gar, the epitome of the strength of pure willpower. Symbolically enough, Mor Strioch Pian Gar emulates the element of its caster's necklace, symbolising the domination of Darkness over the other Elements, as darkness is powerful over all other elements, except itself.

No other path has so heavily interacted with the element of darkness as the path of the Wizard has, either way, which makes their endowment with these secret only to them an even more just event.

Wraith Touch & Howl - Adjustment, or Know Thy Enemy?

However, the Monk Path also has access to two dark secrets, one of which is the secret of the Wraith’s Touch. Indeed, the element of Darkness is not found naturally isolated, however, the Monk lives in one with nature, and it is obvious that in order to be the Keeper of Nature, one must also know how to use the secrets of its enemies, chiefly the Chaotic forces of Darkness. It can be seen as nature’s mastery of the enemy’s ways. It can also be seen as the Monks adjusting to a new nature. Perhaps it has been so long since the element of darkness was introduced to nature that nature has adapted to work with it in harmony, symbolised by the possession of such dark secrets by the path of the fortuitous Monks.

On the other hand, the secret of howling, mimicking the howl of wolves, is also another secret of darkness, however this one is more superficially natural than wraith touch. It is obvious that the Path of the Monk, as Wardens of Nature, live in harmony and wish to become one with it, and as such mimic its denizens, one of these being wolves. Wolves howl at night, in darkness, and it is only logical that any secrets mimicked from Wolves would also mimic the nature in which the wolves would live; in complete darkness.

Many of the other classes may depend on nature, such as the Wizard, but none would wish to commune with its animals, let alone mimic and use secrets inspired by them, besides the monk.

Spion Torradh - Servants of Darkness

This secret, literally meaning to pull someone from a burial ground out in the Old Tongue, is bestowed to the Wizards who choose to devote themselves to the Arts and Crafts of Necromancy, so that it may aid them in reanimating undead servants that will aid them in battle. It is obvious that since only Wizards can become Necromancers, since only they have access to the most apocryphal secrets of Darkness, only they will be allowed to make use of its secrets. Even when offered the chance, however, it is doubtful that the paths of the Priest, the Rogue, the Monk, or the Warrior would accept such a secret. Not only would the idea of reanimated servants revolt them or frighten them, but none possess the insatiable thirst and curiosity for even more knowledge than the Children of Luathas, the Wizards, so as to accept such a secret, even though it may seem foolhardy. Even Luathas himself possesses knowledge of the Dark, though by morality he refuses to utilise them.
